The intent of the measure that this value set was created for is focused on bleeding that is likely to be etiologically related to in-hospital use of pharmacoprophylaxis for venous thromboembolism. This concept of bleeding at non-critical sites is to count bleeding events that may result in a decrease in hemoglobin or transfusion, but do not lead to loss of important functions due to their anatomic location.
