Bleeding at Critical Site
The intent of the measure that this value set was created for is focused on bleeding that is likely to be etiologically related to in-hospital use of pharmacoprophylaxis for venous thromboembolism. According to the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), the intention of the concept of critical sites is to count bleeding events that are likely to lead to damage with loss of important functions due to their anatomic location (even with relatively small blood loss).
